Spread the love

The city of dreams-Mumbai is known for its vibrant life and the film-city that attracts many youngsters here, with a dream to make it big. Hardly surprising that large number of tourists come here to see what’s so attractive and vibrant in this metropolitan city, which never tends to sleep? The Department of Mumbai Tourism understands this phenomenon and they have strived hard to develop some of the ignored aspects of the tourist attractions of the metro. One of these aspects are the refreshing beaches in Mumbai that can be accessed easily by road.

Most of the working professionals do not get a full weekend off of Saturday and Sunday. For them the hustle-bustle of city life is just too much to carry on after a long week of work. A drive of as long as 2 hours can make them reach the far most beach of Mumbai, where they can spend the day and may be the night to refresh themselves. Almost all the beaches in Mumbai are packed on the weekends, but for the tourists who have come from outside; they can always visit on the weekdays when the crowd is less or not at all present.

Mumbai tourism board has been talking about the various beaches and enticing tourists from all over. The beaches in Mumbai are all so captivating that visitors throng to the shores once the sun sets.

  1. Versova: This beach is a proper continuation of the well-known Juhu beach that is separated in the Andheri suburbs by a steep creek. In the Versova village the large community of ‘Kolis’ fishing folk resides and they operate from this very village, in order to go to the open sea and catch fish. This also makes this particular village and beach the most famous fish auction market that is held regularly every day, without fail.
  2. Chowpatty: This is a landmark by which Mumbai has been famous for the past four decades through the movies that were shot on this beach. It is situated at the northern end of the Marine Drive; though it is very tiny compared to all the various beaches in Mumbai, its significance is more than any other beach. There are many hawkers on this beach, whereas for the continental cuisine lovers or the people who prefer to have their snacks sitting in a proper restaurant; there are many such joints in this vicinity. The place is always packed with families and couples in the evening. To reach here is very easy, as it is well connected by the road and suburban railways.
  3. Aksa Beach: Right next to the village of Aksa in Malad suburban area, this beach is located very close to the Malvani. It used to be a very less visited beach as well as one of the most salient one, so it was clean and one could see a variety of sea-shells and snails here. There are many hotels and private cottages here, offering ample options for someone who would like to stay overnight.
