1. Ooty – Formerly known as Udhamandalam, this southern beauty was the summer capital for the Britishers in India. Situated in the Nilgiri range, this beautiful hill station is wrapped in a blue mist and the aroma of fresh rains, which allures thousands of tourists every year. 3. Kodaikanal – This fantastic hill station, perched high in the Palani Hills is about 140km from Coimbatore. Kodai, as the locals say, is the best natural outing you could’ve ever taken. Filled with clear springs, lush greenery, waterfalls and cool air, Kodaikanal promises a great, refreshing time with your parents and pals. Go explore the beautiful orchids (one of them is famous for the Kurinji flower, which blooms once in 12 years), enjoy boat rides in its stunning lakes or photography in the beautiful gardens.

4. Annamalali Wildlife Sanctuary – Situated at an altitude of 1400m, this famous wildlife sanctuary is spread in an area of about 1000 square kilometers. The sanctuary has huge count of wildlife and very popular for its crocodiles, which play around in the Amaravathy reservoir, situated in the middle of the park. Apart from the wildlife, the natural beauty of the sanctuary is also quite stunning. You can go for an elephant ride and enjoy the calm, green surroundings of the park. There are several Coimbatore hotels located in the vicinity which brings your closer to the natural habitat of animals.

5. Thirumurthy Dam – Lying at the foot of Thirumurthy Hills, this beautiful dam is built across the Thirumurthy lake. Located at a distance of 20km from the nearest village of Udumalpet, this amazing dam is lies on the highway from Palani to Coimbatore.

There’s a historical Amalingeswarar temple, a crocodile farm and a waterfall located close to the dam.
