India has an expansive coastline with many spots along it that are ideal for the traveler seeking a peaceful, relaxed vacation. There are many beautiful beaches with soft, white sand where you can laze around getting a magnificent tan from the warm tropical sun.

Varkala:Varkala is an exquisite picturesque coastal line, which is only an hour from Trivandrum, Kerala. Here you can view stunning sunsets as the tropical sun dips over the horizon sending its fading orange-red rays across the serene breathtaking winding beaches. There is a winding cliff that stretches along the coastline providing some wonderful scenes that you wouldn’t want to miss. The cliff has a mineral spring towards the southern end of the beach from which you can take some refreshing gulps of water believed to be rich in medicinal value.

Varkala

Along the Varkala coast, there are many interesting activities to keep you fully entertained. There are several yoga centers and places that offer Ayurvedic massages. There are meditation workshops and you can visit various workshops specializing in arts and therapy.

Mahabalipuram: Mahabalipuram, also known as Mamallapuram, is probably the best destination along the east coast of India. It is only an hour from Chennai in Tamil Nadu. The beach does not provide anything special but the town has several outstanding attractions.

There are the five Rathas, sculptured temples that are built in the shape of chariots, which are a sight to behold for their unique and delicate design.

There is also the Arjuna’s Penance, which is an enormous carving on a rock, which shows scenes taken from the Mahabharatha.

You also have the Shore temple, which stands right at the water’s edge. Back packing is a popular activity for travelers around Mamallapuram.

Palolem:Palolem beach is a coastal stretch famous for its thick coconut palm forest. It is located towards the far southern tip of Goa. Many argue that this is the loveliest beach in the state. It stretches a mile across with a semi-circle shaped beach that is shaded by many coconut palm trees where visitors can take a break from the warm sun.
