Earthly Version of Paradise – Tourism in Goa
Beaches, casinos, bars, nightclubs, flea markets, architectural excellence and amazing Goan food, you are at the right address if you are looking for a perfect blend of things mentioned above and this is what sums up the tourism in Goa, Goa is the ultimate holidaying cum partying destination in India which attracts a considerable percentage of foreign tourists every year to this charming and smallest state in India.
Goa is one of the biodiversity hotspots of India given the rich and beautiful presence of flora and fauna, beautiful and timeless, the state is a reflection of the Portuguese culture that reigned it until 1961, everything about Goa is so Portuguese from the architectural and constructional setting to food and even the ambience and that what makes tourism in Goa special and atypical.
If you are in Goa then are certain things you must do and places you must visit, here is a list of those things! Partying doesn’t need a mention, does it?
Take the fullest advantage of the golden beaches; plus the cruises
Apart from surfing and playing on the sandy beaches, why not spend a night here? Sleeping on the beaches with starry sky right above is a dream come true and what can better than having to wake up to the sun spreading its light and love to the world? Anjuna Baga and Arambol beaches are quite popular and provides musical evenings and nights with live musical and dance performances to accompany you throughout. Plus an absolute favourite thing to try in Goa is the water sports, even if you haven’t tried them before shed all the inhibitions, go parasailing, banana boating, jet skiing, water skiing, etc., and yes try the multi themed cruising like the casino, sunset party or dolphin cruises.
Eat to your heart’s content:restaurants in Goa
Goa is home to the exotic and the typical Goan fusion cuisines, almost everything you eat (Goan cuisine) will have coconut milk, chillies, vinegar or rice, the local delicacy is incomplete without these ingredients and quite interestingly these ingredients were introduced by Portuguese here during their colonial rule.
Some of the best restaurants in Goa are in Panjim that is Goa’s capital city on the northern side, what really mesmerised me about the restaurants were the fact that they are family owned with all the members working for the restaurant right from cooking to serving. Another thing which is equally charming is the homely feel about the restaurants in Goa, some have them have been built in an old cottages and old heritages homes, the local cuisines served by restaurants in Goa distinctly follows a homemade style.
Goan breads called pao and poi and is a major accompaniment with all curries, vindaloos are a famous delicacy here with thick spicy gravy also influenced by Portuguese style of cooking which was earlier prepared by blending garlic paste in wine. In desserts bebinca and dodol are must haves and drink it down with the exclusively Goan prepared liquor called Feni.
Go shopping and get inked:
Visit the all -encompassing flea markets at Anjuna, Saturday night bazaars are famous too and yes do not forget to get inked before you leave!
