The Ram Bagh is the oldest of all the Mughal Gardens. It was built by the emperor Barbur who put a great emphasis on the design that depicts the concept of paradise in Islam. In Agra it certainly is paradise.

The concept of paradise in almost any faith is indeed a marvelous one. It reminds one of eternal bliss; of a place where there is beauty beyond one’s imagination. The Ram Bagh in India is one such location. Originally known as the Aaram Bagh, this garden makes the oldest standing Mughal Garden in the nation. The blissful location came to life in the year 1528 by the hands of the Mughal Emperor Babur. The garden is located in close proximity to the magnificent Taj Mahal and stands true to the beauty emulated by the Taj.

The garden is a perfect depiction of the Islamic version of Paradise. It boasts a beautiful Persian style and is rich in abundance and rivers. The name Aaram Bagh means the Garden of Rest and it is believed to be the very location where Emperor Akbar proposed to his third wife who happened to be a gardener there. He did so by lying still for 6 whole days until she finally agreed to marry him. The garden hence became a notion of sentiment, poetry, art and love. It has sentimental history to it and visitors get emotionally attached once they know the story behind it.
